Lt. Col. Royal T. Squires passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth. Interment: 9 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Lt. Col. Squires was born in Corpus Christi to Royal and Maria Viola Squires. He retired from the United States Air Force after 28 years of honorable service. Royal served two tours in Vietnam, and received nine military awards. He flew B-52s and the Looking Glass Flying Command Post for SAC Headquarters. Royal was a member of the Elks Club
and the Petroleum Club. He and his wife June enjoyed ballroom dancing, and he loved to play "boogie woogie" on the piano. Royal was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Tom Paulding. Survivors: Wife, June Squires; daughters, Liz Dudley and her husband, John, and Terri Squires; grandchildren, Aaron Dudley, Nikki Dudley Jackson and Iliana Luna; and great-grandson, Elliot Jackson.
