Vera Jo Thompson(1921 - 2014)

Vera Jo Thompson went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. Service: 12:30 p.m. Monday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Vera Jo Redus was born Nov. 15, 1921. She married G.W. Thompson on Nov. 1, 1939. They were married for 67 years. The first few years of their marriage were spent on a farm in East Texas. They later moved to Fort Worth in 1950. After their children left home, they bought a motorcycle and took many fun-filled rides together. G.W. loved photography and they took many beautiful pictures on their vacations together. Vera worked for an insurance company in Fort Worth until her retirement. She was fortunate to have lived near her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. They were the joy of her life and she enjoyed spending time with them all. Vera attended Meadowbrook United Methodist church where she had many loving friends. Survivors: Daughter, Sandy Babb of Burleson; son, George Richard Thompson of Boyd; grandchildren, G.W. Babb, Keith Babberney of Austin, Paula Peckham and husband, John, of Burleson; great-grandchildren, Holly Ward and husband, Stephen, of Crowley, Zach Fort and wife, Sarah, of Joshua; great-great-grandchildren, Julianna Vargas, Kennedy Ward and Emma Lee Fort; and brother, William Billy Redus of Los Angeles, Calif.
