Virginia Beggs Anderson Simons Odum, 85, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at her home surrounded by family. Service: A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Cook Children's Medical Center, 801 Seventh St., Fort Worth, Texas 76104, or a charity of personal choice. Virginia was born April 26, 1928, to Virginia and George Beggs Anderson in Fort Worth. She graduated from Paschal High School, attended Sweetbriar College and graduated from the University of Texas
at Austin, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. In 1949 Virginia married John Charles Simons Jr., her husband of over 50 years. Virginia was a past president of the Fort Worth Junior League and a lifelong member of St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, where her father was a founding elder and trustee. She was a member of the Fort Worth Lecture Foundation, the Jewel Charity Ball, The Assembly and River Crest Country Club, where Virginia enjoyed playing bridge with friends she had known and loved for over 60 years. Virginia was preceded in death by J. Charles Simons Jr. and Harold Odum. Survivors: Children, Barbara Simons Clemons and husband, Leland, of Fort Worth, John Charles Simons III and wife, Rose, of Westfield, N.J.; grandchildren, Leland Clemons Jr. and wife, Kristin, Stockton Clemons and wife, Sarah, Phillip Clemons, Charles Townes Clemons and fiancee, Mimi Slaughter, Kit Simons Wagner and husband, Charley, and Evan Simons; great-grandchildren, Stockton Clemons Jr., Lilly Clemons, Mercer Clemons and Charlotte Clemons; many loving nieces and nephews; and Harold Odum's daughters, Mary Beth Bigger and husband, Mike Richardson, and Peggy Winkler and husband, Matt.
