Capt. Walter Leon McCarty, 57, of Fort Worth went home to his Savior on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. Memorial service: 5 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Highway, Lakeside. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Alpine Funeral Home Chapel. Walter was born to Bert and June McCarty on Jan. 20, 1956, in Dimmit. He attended Azle High School and graduated from Castleberry High School in 1974. He attended Tarrant County Junior College and was on the Dean's List for academic achievement. In 1976 Walter enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Marine Corps for 12 years. In addition to his devotion to his country, he was a devoted husband to Cynthia, father to Heather and Nathaniel Leon, and foster dad to Vicki, Jamie, Dale and Eric Lewis. Walter met and married Ronda in 1999 and they established Patriot Pressure Wash & Striping. They worked side by side in the business. It was at a job site in Weatherford that Walt's life ended due to a sudden heart attack. He was doing the work he loved with the woman he loved at his side. Walter was preceded in death by his mother, June Austin; father, Bert; and brother, Lawrence McCarty. Survivors: Wife, Ronda McCarty; daughter, Heather Johnston; sons, Nathaniel Leon McCarty and wife, Rachel, Jason Riddle and wife, Mary, and Josh Riddle and wife, Paige; foster children, Vicki Lewis Waits, Jamie Lewis McPherson, Dale Lewis and Eric Lewis; grandchildren, Tazi, Scott, Jack and Eli Johnston, Peighton Berry, Emma McCarty and Skylar McCarty; sisters, Vicki Lynn Bolten, Laurice Reeves and husband, Richard, and JoAne Duke; many extended family members; and an amazing number of dear friends.
