Mark Johnson Obituary

Mark "Tyler" Johnson, 20, beloved son, brother and friend, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011, in College Station. Funeral: 4 p.m. Monday at Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Lamar Blvd., Arlington, with Rev. Charles Saker officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Arlington Animal Shelter, 1000 Southeast Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas 76018, 817-459-5898. Tyler was born on Sept. 28, 1990, in Arlington to Mark N. Johnson and Cheryl Geiser Johnson. A graduate of Martin High School, he was the proudest member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2013. Tyler was a Class Agent and Big Brother of FAST (Freshman Aggies Spreading Traditions) and a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington. He loved all sports, especially those with the word ball in the title. He relished every chance he had to be outdoors-hunting, fishing, wakeboarding, playing in the pool, and doing anything with his friends, family, and Chrissy, his beloved Schnauzer. He loved watching his Aggies beat any opponent in any sport, especially TU! Tyler was a friend to all and a stranger to none. His light burned bright while he was here on earth and it shines brighter still in heaven now. We will always love him and we will never forget him. Survivors: Parents, Mark and Cheryl Johnson; sister, Courtney Elise Johnson; maternal grandparents, Doyle and Rosa Lee Geiser; paternal grandparents, Mack and Jane Johnson; aunt, Karen Temple and husband, William; uncle, James Geiser and wife, Stacy; uncle, Todd Johnson and wife, Amy; cousins, Brittany Childs, Blair Temple, Jake and Zane Johnson, and Kaylee and Austin Geiser; and a host of friends.

Cheryl and Mark, yesterday I listened to the stories of Tyler. It was obvious that he was the best of what a son could be. He was loved by many but he loved even more. He constantly put others needs before his own. He was a man's man and lived life to the fullest. Last but certainly not least, his heart belonged to God. Take solace in knowing where he is now and comfort yourselves in knowing that you both did a wonderful job in rearing a child into an awesome young man. May God bless you and watch over you.

The shocking news in church this morning left me weeping as I have a son at LSU. Although I didn't know him personally, the college age ministry friends in Christ mourn their loss of him at FBCA. Victory however from Christ's gift at the cross gives Tyler eternal life and so we are left behind until it is our turn to be called home.

Our family was so sad to hear the news of Tyler's death. We are so very sorry that such tragedy has touched your family. Tyler was an exceptional young man who was special to so many of his friends. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mr and Mrs Johnson and Courtney,
My heart aches for you. I wish I had words to heal the hole in your heart and lives, but please know that Tyler will be very fondly remembered by many. His generous spirit and kind gestures made him such a delightful young man. I felt blessed at the time to have such a special person as one of "my" students, and I know that he was a blessing as your son and brother. Of course, when he decided to attend A&M, he sealed his status as extra special in my Aggie mind. May you gather strength as others share with you how wonderful Tyler was and know that he will grieved, and never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go with you, Luann Argersinger, Counselor at Martin High School

We are all deeply saddened to hear the news of Tyler's passing. Words are so inadequate, especially at the loss of one so young and full of life. I will always remember that beautiful smile of Tyler's, so much like yours Cheryl. And I remember him standing in line with Jessica for kindergarten graduation wearing one of those silly posterboard hats. May you all find comfort in the joy that Tyler brought to your lives and strength in the support of your loved ones and friends. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NIV)
[3] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. [5] For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
