I came across the announcement of Dr. Apilado passing today. He was a fine individual and the best of the best teachers at Arizona State in the MBA program in 1973. I can look back and note with appreciation that corporate finance principles I learned in his very competitive Financial Management class came in handy throughout my career. Vince motivated students with his enthusiasm, confidence, approachability, knowledge and the possibilities that the study of finance offered students. In 1973 we shared a meal with Vince and Elsa months before their marriage and prior to us the next year. There was love in his eyes and his happiness was abundantly radiated. Vince made an impression on me as a person, educator and finance expert that I carry to this day. May he rest in peace.

Vince and I were classmates and best friends in grade school and the University of Portland. He absolutely brought out the best in me. He was he an outstanding student and athlete. He pushed me well beyond what I believed I could do and I am so thankful today. God bless the soul of such a special person.

Doctor Apilado was larger than life to me as a child. He seemed stronger than a superhero. As an adult, I see how he was human but it's obvious he lead by example. He was the model of discipline, hard work, and stability. Doctor Apilado could also be surprisingly funny and tolerant. He was efficient in sharing his wisdom which definitely kept you wanting more and he could astound you with his intelligence which also kept you wanting more. I can still see him in perfect posture in front of the TV or behind the wheel of his old Mercedes. I can still see him "slowly" growing impatient with the bombardment of questions from Paul, Stevie, and myself. I will never stop treasuring those memories and more than anything I will always remember how he treated me like a son and because of this and more, he is still larger than life in my heart.

Dr. Apilado was the father of my best friend growing up. Ill never forget our early morning talks across the kitchen or his advice. We were early risers. He loved and protected his family fiercely. He guided me through elementary, junior high, highschool and eventually important college education decisions more than I ever realized or shared. I watched him raise his family in Arlington and learned via my own dad and Vince what to expect of a dad. All my love forever ::Lauren::

We miss Vince. He was such an impressive individual: highly intelligent, accomplished, athletic, and kind. I remember my surprise at learning he was a state racquetball champion. I did not know he was a gifted musician. It was an honor to be his friend and neighbor.

My son asked me if I remembered any of my college professors. I said "yes, Dr. Apilado!" After a quick google search, I learned of his death only today. What an incredible teacher he was. I remember his love of finance and his way of teaching. You were sure to learn the material. What a classy man, too.
Im sure his family, friends and colleagues miss his presence.

Dr. Apilado was the best professor I had in college. His consistency, intentionality and genuine care for each of his students was outstanding. Work ethic was a big theme Vince brought to my young life.
May God bless his soul.
