Benjamin Franklin Sharp Obituary
Retired Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Benjamin Franklin Sharp, 84, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, in Fort Worth. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Sharp will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Fort Worth. Burial with full military honors will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation; 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Nuns, 5801 Mt. Carmel Drive, Arlington, Texas 76017. A Korean and Vietnam War veteran, Mr. Sharp received many awards and honors during his 20 years of outstanding service. He retired in 1967 at Carswell Air Force Base. After his distinguished military service, he joined General Dynamics Fort Worth, ultimately retiring from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth with 20 years of service. He was also a dear father of six children and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Sharp was an active, longtime member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Community. He was a generous contributor to the building of St. Bart's Catholic Education Center, benefactor of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns in Arlington and gave to many other charitable causes. Mr. Sharp was also a donor and regular volunteer at the Catholic Food Pantry. Survivors: His surviving children include Patricia Trementozzi, Marla Dudman, Steven Sharp, Carmelite nun Sister Francis Therese, Rosemary Sharp-Sullivan and John Sharp. He has nine grandchildren, Katherine, Hunter, Brandon, Eric, Ryan, Cindy, Melanie, Danielle, Jared; and a number of great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved. He also leaves behind his very best friend and beloved Maizelle Dunlap.
