David Andrews Obituary

David James Andrews, 90, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, surrounded by his family.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday at University Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Private burial: Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Memorials: Donations may be made to the Richard B. Coit Scholarship at Baylor University, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or a charity of choice.
David was born in Uvalde, one of 13 children of the Rev. Charles Forrest Andrews and his wife, Annis Speed. He graduated as valedictorian from Madisonville High School and attended Baylor University as a varsity letterman competing in track. There he met his wife of 48 years, Catherine Coit. David was a major in the Air Force, serving in England, Scotland and France during World War II and was honored for his service in the organization of the Normandy Invasion. He was recalled to duty at Carswell Air Force Base during the Korean War.
David and Catherine had three children, Angela, Richard and Stephen. He was partner in Fastener Sales Co. and a member of Ridglea Country Club and University Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He enjoyed music (having taught himself to play piano) as well as golf and supporting the fine arts.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; son, Stephen; and grandson, Steven Rutledge.
Survivors: Brother, Steve Forrest; children, Angela Andrews Fabry and Richard Andrews; his daughter-in-law, Susana Correa Andrews; grandchildren, David Rutledge, Lara Andrews Kutz, Matthew, Suzanne and Michael Andrews and Lisa Rutldege, widow of Steven; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Andrew Rutledge and Emily and Hannah Kutz.

David was my father´s lifelong best friend. They became friends at Baylor University. My father, Alvin Crow, passed away before Mr. Andrews. Mr. Andrews attended my Daddy´s funeral, which was so touching.
They shared love for Our Lord.
