David Warnell "Daddy Dave" Hinkle Obituary
David Warnell Hinkle, 84, succumbed to lung cancer on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Fort Worth. Celebration of life: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at 5100 SE Loop 820 in Fort Worth. Dave was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Cleburne to the late Lee John and Ira Jane Beams Hinkle. Dave enlisted in the Army in 1947. Afterwards, he began his career as a long-haul truck driver. He later owned a Humble, full service gas station before returning and retiring from his true love of truck driver. Due to his trucking career he was fortunate to experience most of the U.S. and Canada, and excelled at collecting and telling stories. Dave's last requested act of generosity, was to donate his body to science. Although his health was failing, he was young at heart, always stating, "I know it's not my age, it's the miles I got on me." He will be dearly missed. Dave was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Survivors: Dave is survived by his son, David Hinkle; daughter, Sherry Williams; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
