Elizabeth Jean Taggart Obituary
Elizabeth Jean Taggart, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, after losing a two-year battle with COPD. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth 76107. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials: Donations may be made to the , P.O. Box 470773, Fort Worth, Texas 76147 or the SPCA, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103 Jean was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Cleburne, but lived most of her life in Fort Worth. She touched many lives for the better in her career as she worked for nearly 30 years at Texas Women's Health and two decades at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth. Jean was dearly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She brightened even the darkest of days with her cheerful demeanor and her constant expressions of genuine kindness. As a young woman, Jean lost her beloved husband, Jack Rayburn Taggart, tragically in a car wreck. Being a widow for 33 years was a long, tough journey made endurable because of the great love she had for her one and only surviving son, Phillip Wren Taggart, the greatest joy and light of her life. Her deep and abiding faith in Christ was a constant source of strength for her and was evidenced by her gentle, selfless and sweet spirit. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Rayburn Taggart; mother, Gladys Chaney Powell; father, Ocie James "OJ" Powell; sister, Joanne Powell; brothers, Billy Powell and Bobby Powell. Survivors: Son, Phillip Wren Taggart; brother, Michael James Powell; nieces; nephews; and all of her many, many friends who loved her and will greatly miss her.
