Elsie Stone Davies Lewis Obituary
Elsie Stone Davies Lewis, 97, passed away peacefully in her home Friday, April 26, 2013. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at University Christian Church. Elsie was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Woodbury, Tenn. She moved to Bartlett with her family in 1917 at the age of 2. Elsie was a descendant of Uriah Stone, which the Stones River was named for in Tennessee. Elsie graduated from Waco High School and attended Baylor University. At the age of 19, she went to work for the Greyhound Bus Company. She met and married William Arthur "Bill" Davies Jr. They were married for 48 years. Her life journey carried her on to meet E. Don Lewis Sr. whom she married. Elsie was the office manager for the National Labor Relations Board from which she retired. She was a charter member of Beaux Arts Division in the Fort Worth Woman's Club, Colonial Country Club, Petroleum Club, Ridglea Country Club and the Dinner Dance Club. She was a member of University Christian Church. Elsie loved playing in bridge groups and being around people. She loved to travel and visited many beautiful countries in her lifetime. The family would like to express great appreciation and gratitude for the care given to Elsie Lewis by Broadway Plaza at Westover in Fort Worth. Life would not have been the same without longtime friend, companion and caregiver, Velma Belcher. Another special person in her life for the last year and a half was Kyrie Moon who was very devoted and loyal. With these two people, Elsie's life was enriched to the very end. Elsie was preceded in death by husbands, Bill Davies and Don Lewis; son, Art Davies; grandson, Rod Davies; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors: Daughter, Sheila Davies Ross and husband, George; granddaughter, Kristy Davies; grandson, Will Davies and wife, Ricki; great-grandchildren, Zachary Davies, Lindi Jo Davies, Katy Davies, Anthony Davies, Chris Deal and Keri Suder; and two great-great-grandchildren.
