Eugene J. "Gene" Magnuson Jr. departed his earthly body Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at 65. Memorial service: A service for his friends and loved ones will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth. His funeral was Sunday, Sept. 29, in the Capt. William Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Taylor officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation, 1411 K. St., NW Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20005, or American Diabetes Foundation, 2750 Lake Villa Drive, Metairie, La. 70002. Eugene "Gene" J. Magnuson Jr. was born Oct. 28, 1947, to Eugene Sr. and Ellen Magnuson in Jefferson. Gene served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1973, serving one tour in Vietnam. Along with being a member of the Masonic Lodge, his proudest membership was being a H.O.G. Gene retired after 27 years of employment with Lockheed Martin in 2005. There were only a few things he loved more than his Harley bikes. His greatest love was his wife and best friend of 43 years, Darlene; they enjoyed riding their Harleys with their second family, "the gang." He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Magnuson; nephew, Gary Dean Magnuson Jr.; and father-in-love, George Harvey. Survivors: Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Patty, Theresia, Debbie and Karen and their spouses; his mother, Ellen Magnuson; grandchildren, Tony, Sonny, Lilly, Nikki, Alexandria, Myranda, Audrey, Buddy, Devin, Mandy, Krista, Blake, Grant and Karlee; four great-grandchildren; sister, Paula Stringer; brother-in-law, Mac Stringer; brother, Gary Magnuson; and many other family members and friends.
