Frances Payton Obituary

Frances Sue Sidebottom Payton, 88 years old, passed away to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. Celebration of life: Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Bible Church, 1450 Oak Hill Road, Fort Worth. She was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Fort Worth to the Rev. Ike T. and Effie Mae Liddell Sidebottom. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1941. In 1942 she married Arthur Olen Payton in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death in 1984. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a master's degree in education counseling in 1966. She worked in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and H.E.B. ISD until she retired in 1986. She volunteered as a Christian counselor for the Navigators at Glen Eerie, Colorado Springs, Colo. She lived in Bogota, Colombia, and Galveston, where she taught English as a second language. Sue loved the Lord Jesus and was a vessel of his love to all she came in contact with. Survivors: Her daughter, Caron Sue Adcox DeCaires and husband, George; son, James "Jim" Olen Payton and wife, Carrie; sister, Doris Sidebottom Rightmer; grandchildren, DeWain Adcox and wife, Cathy, David Adcox and wife, Alejandra, Jessica Payton Sachs and husband, Rod, Hannah Payton Lewis and husband, Tyler, Richard Payton and wife, Valeria, Jeanette Payton Edelstein and husband, Samuel; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
