George Shannon Scruggs Obituary
George Shannon Scruggs, 72, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, with Pastor Chad Stubblefield officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. George was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Wichita Falls to the late R.J. and Valorie Jane Brumbelow Scruggs. He served our country proudly in the United States Army. On Jan. 20, 1968, he married Ann Brown. He later worked as a systems analyst, and was a home builder for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed painting. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Eric Spencer. Survivors: His loving wife of 45 years, Ann Scruggs of Saginaw; children, Laura Reizner and Dan Hernke of Lisle, Ill., and Steve Scruggs and wife, Tina, of St. Charles, Ill.; his brothers and sisters, Dwaine Scruggs and wife, Bertha, of Burkburnett, Joe Scruggs and wife, Lynda, of Wichita Falls, Barbara Nason of Decatur, Lana Lowe of Fort Worth and Anna West and husband, Bill, of Bedford; grandchildren, Rebecca Reizner, Zachary Reizner, Brian Scruggs and Nick Scruggs; and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
