Gerald T. Robertson Obituary
Gerald T. Robertson slipped away peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013. Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a that benefits veterans. Gerald was born in Comanche County on March 21, 1931. He graduated from Comanche High School. Gerald was a patriot of our country and a hero in the eyes of his family. He was a military man, having served 25 years in both the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. Gerald did three tours of duty in Vietnam and spent the bulk of his time involved in the U-2/SR-71 program. He served one tour of duty during the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division and was humbled by war. He understood first-hand the price of our freedoms, and he never forgot the supreme sacrifice that was made by numerous comrades in arms. The family wishes to thank all his friends who looked after him these past few years. He cherished your friendship and your visits. He was preceded in death by his parents, John K. Robertson and Minnie Mae Flippo Robertson; younger brother, Garland; and nephew, Steve Smith. Survivors: His sister, Maxine Minchew and husband, Bill, of Emmett; sister, Carole Markel of Fort Worth; brother, John Stanley Robertson of Carrollton; four nephews; three nieces; numerous extended family members; and many friends.
