Jerry Eugene Hames, 74, went home to his Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at River Oaks Church of the Nazarene, 5620 Black Oak Lane, River Oaks. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials: Donations may be made in his memory to the building fund of CrossPoint Nazarene Church, crosspointnaz.org. Jerry was born in Norman, Okla. He graduated from Norman High School where he met his wife of 56 years, Peggy Watt. He received his B.S. from Oklahoma University and his M.S. from the University of Southern California. He was an aeronautical engineer with Lockheed Martin and its predecessor companies in California and Texas until his retirement in 2006. He also held a private pilot's license. Together, he and Peggy raised three children, and he was a proud Grandpa to eight grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caregivers who made his five-year battle with Alzheimer's, and his final days, easier: the staff on the memory floor at The Stayton, the James L. West Alzheimer Center, Avalon Residential Care Homes, and the wonderful nurses from Angel Hands Hospice. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clomer "Bud" and Leola Briggs Hames; and his sister, Joyce Hames Grisham.
