John H. Riley Obituary
John Riley passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, surrounded with the love and support of his wife and children. Service: 10 a.m. Friday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Mission Central. John was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Azusa, Calif., to Clifford and Mary Atha Riley. He moved to Mulberry, Ark., at age 5 and graduated from Mulberry High School. John enlisted in the Army and served in Japan at the end of World War II. Upon returning to Arkansas, he attended the University of Arkansas and Arkansas Tech University. Following college he began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which led him and his wife, Wilma, to Hurst in 1955. He retired in 1982. During retirement, he enjoyed traveling and time with family, especially his beloved grandsons. He was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks fan. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Paul and Robert Riley. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Wilma; sons, Bob of Fort Worth, Bill and wife, Vee, of Hurst; daughter, Ramona Middlebrooks and husband, J, of Bedford; grandsons, Cliff Riley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kyle Riley of Carrollton; sisters, Nanette Gaylor of Tyler and Nadean Bell and husband, John, of Saginaw; many nieces; and a nephew.
