Kenneth Currey Obituary
Kenneth Barton Currey, 90, went to the Lord surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Benbrook, 1015 McKinley, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Kenneth was born Aug. 23, 1923, to Lillian Currey and the late Truman Currey in Baker's Run, W.Va. When Ken was 18, he joined the Army Air Corps and trained as a pilot. When the Army Air Corps became the Army Air Forces, Ken flew 17 bombing missions over Germany during World War II in his B-17, "The Eagle's Wrath." After the Allies won the war, he was part of the reconstruction of Germany and flew in the Berlin Airlift. After completing 22 years in the Air Force, he retired as a major in 1963. Ken began his second career at New York Life Insurance and worked in this profession for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Ken was an active member of First Baptist Church of Benbrook since 1961. Kenneth was loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years, Dorothy; and daughter, Linda Kay Seals. Survivors: Sons, Larry and wife, Vicki, of Fort Worth and Les and wife, Mary, of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Richard and Belinda Seals, Robert and Corinna Seals, Katheryn and Scott Fetzer, Jet Currey, and Scott and Ashley Piskorski; and nine great-grandchildren.
