Mary Kurtin Walker Obituary
Mary Kurtin Walker died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. She was 92 years old. Celebration of life: Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment: 10 a.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: was Wednesday at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to or the . Mary was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Granger to Josef Kurtin and Aneska Mickalek. She graduated from Granger High School and later moved to Fort Worth. While in Fort Worth, she married Ralph C. Walker, St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 27, 1946, in Granger. They started a family and had five children. Mary was a devoted Catholic and loved to travel. Following her husband's retirement, they spent much of their time traveling all over the United States and to Europe and their favorite place was Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and son, Johnny Justin. In addition, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Frances, Joe, Tony and his wife, Dee, Margaret Hajda and Laddie Kurtin. The family gives a special thank-you to the SPJST nurses and aides on Hall 4. Survivors: Mary is survived by son, Jim and wife, Barbara, of Pflugerville; daughters, Mary Hyman of Bedford, Dorothy Jean of Bedford, and Jenny Harader and husband, Max, of Hurst; grandchildren, Lisa Larson and husband, Paul, of Taylor, Pat Repa of Round Rock, Jason Walker of Austin, and Nick Hyman and wife, Zee, of Los Angeles, Calif; and great-grandchildren, Steve Larson, Taylor Repa, Christian Larson, Katy Repa and Alice Hyman; and special little girls who made Granny always smile, Morgan Larson and Demi Larson Brooks; siblings, Edith Kurtin, Agnes "Babs" Kurtin and John Kurtin, all of Granger, Frank Kurtin of Flatonia; sister-in-law, Lydia Kurtin of Granger; and brother-in-law, V.J. Hajda of Taylor.
