Miguel Bouquillon Banta Jr., M.D., 73, started a new journey with God, Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 1007 E. Terrell St., Fort Worth, Texas 76104. Visitation: 6 p.m. Friday, with rosary to follow at 7 p.m., at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Miguel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who touched the lives of many people. He was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Bauan Batangas, Philippines, to Adele Bouquillon and Miguel C. Banta, M.D. Miguel had lived in Fort Worth since 1969 where he began a medical residency at Carswell Air Force Base. He was among a very few in his class invited by the U.S. Air Force to take his entrance exam when he was in his final year at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, where he was class salutatorian. He did his medical internship at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines. He wanted to be a pilot, but his father, also a physician, insisted he study medicine. He practiced as an anesthesiologist at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth for 20-plus years, and then continued his private practice in pain management until the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Loualhati. Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Diane Sapp-Banta; sons, Michael (Genna), David, and Patrick Banta; daughter, Alyssa Banta; brother, Edwin Banta; sisters, Mathilde Loualhati, Norma Comia, Patricia Banta-Elizalde (Noel); stepchildren, Rodney, LaRonda and Kimberle; grandchildren, Liliana, Steffen, Alyssa Jolie Banta, Brianna, Sydney and Chandler; along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives, his church family and dear friends.
