Modie Joe Wells Obituary
Modie Joe Wells, 68, lost his battle with cancer and departed this life Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, to join his mother, Martha Hanson Naron, and his sister, Dorothy Grogan Bradley, who preceded him. Service: Mr. Wells requested that no services be held. His family will inter his ashes at Cedar Point Cemetery in Comanche. There will be a family visitation at his home, 601 7th St. (corner of Brady and 7th St.) from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, for those wishing to celebrate Modie's life with his family. Memorials: For those wishing to remember Modie Joe and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your or to Solaris Hospice Services, who took such good care of Modie at the end of his life on this earth. A resident of Brownwood, Modie graduated from Brownwood High School, class of 1963, and went on to a stellar career as an outstanding high school English teacher in Ozona and Trinity High School in Euless. Upon retirement, Mr. Wells worked at the Brownwood T R Havins Unit as a drug and alcohol counselor. Survivors: Brother-in-law, Marris Bradley of Paint Rock; niece, Teresa Bradley Wilson and husband, David, of Arlington; nephew, Tony Bradley of Carrollton; nephew, Jerry Bradley and wife, Carla, of Sonora; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends and former students who loved and respected him.
