Thelma Marie Warren Obituary
Thelma Marie Warren, 92, gently passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Chapel. Memorials: Christ Haven for Children, Box 467, Keller, Texas 76244 Thelma was born April 6, 1921, in Fort Worth. She was the eighth of 12 children, who were all born at home to James W. Powell and Minnie Lee Powell. She had a successful career in real estate investments. She started her company in the 1950s and employed several relatives in various roles. It is currently managed by her son, George. Thelma will always be remembered for her dedication to her family. She raised three children, primarily on her own. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often said how grateful she was that God gave her such a long life to enjoy watching them grow. She also had a heart for children all over the world. She regularly gave to the many charities to help the children. She had a strong faith that sustained her throughout her lifetime. Prayer was a vital part of her daily existence. She found time to pray about everything. With the help of her children and loving caregivers, Ruthie Mosley and Kyrie Moon, she was able to remain in her own home throughout her life. Thelma was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Tedford, Frances Pates, Minnie Johnson, Effie Brown, Pauline Vickers, Sue Louis and an infant, Mary Louise Powell; and her brothers, Jimmy Powell, Sam Powell and Richard "Bud" Powell. Survivors: Sister, Dorthy Stansberry and her husband, Wayne; children, Martha Briggs and her husband, Rich, Elizabeth Cantrell and her husband, Larry, and George Hoeppner; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
