Thomas Edward "Tom E." Arnold Sr Obituary
Thomas Edward "Tom E." Arnold Sr., 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Friday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with family and friends will follow. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the , Shriners Children's Hospital or a . Born July 19, 1936, in St. Paul, Minn., he was the fourth of 11 sons and daughters of Clara and Sherman Arnold. He attended schools in Falfurrias, Longview and Hallsville, Texas. He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1957 and served as a highway patrolman, safety education officer, intelligence officer and Texas Ranger, Company B, retiring in 1983. Tom was a Mason for many years. He was an accomplished self-taught woodworker. Tom was a mentor and friend to many law enforcement officers through the years. The family wishes to express appreciation to the doctors and staffs of Arlington Memorial Hospital and Community Hospice Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Sherman Arnold; brothers, James Arnold, Larry Arnold and Dan Arnold; and sisters, Linda Cunningham and Phyllis Arnold. Survivors: His wife of 56 years, Martha Owen Arnold of Arlington; son, Thomas Edward Arnold Jr. and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Chelsi Arnold and Garrett Arnold, all of Ranger; brothers, S.H. "J.R." Arnold Jr. and wife, Verna, and Wayne Arnold and wife, Gayle; sisters, Clara Louise "Sis" Negri, Frances Ann McClenny and Helen Trantham; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He also leaves many friends across the state.
