1922 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Waibim Awusinba Abbey, 90 years, of Arlington passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at 10:39 a.m., Central Standard Time. Service: Viewing Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Moore Funeral Home. Visitation: until 8 p.m. Friday, June 21. She was born in Bakana Rivers State of Nigeria on the Aug. 26, 1922. Her parents were Princess Eleanor Marion-Braide and Chief Edwin Awusin Yellowe. Mrs Waibim Awusinba Abbey graduated from Achimota University, The Gold Coast, and received a diploma in home economics and grade 1 teacher's certificate when it was not popular for young African ladies to attend university. She was married to His Imperial Majesty King Akkio Abbey (Ajuko X) Amayanabo of Tombia on June 14, 1952. She migrated to the United States on Sept. 4, 2003, after the death of her beloved husband to whom she had been married for over 51 years. Survivors: Mrs. Waibim Awusinba Abbey is survived by daughter, Boma Abbey-Feisal; son, Chief Dr. Abiye Akkio Abbey; son, Paul Ogelema Abbey; daughter, Deborah Abbey-Nwokoye; sister, Lady Kienimi Douglas; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, adopted family members, relatives, acquaintances and friends too numerous to mention.
