William Walter "Bill" Rowe

1925 - 2011

William Walter "Bill" Rowe died peacefully Monday evening, June 13, 2011, during his 86th year. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper, the Rev. Gerald Griffin of Preston Ridge Baptist Church, Frisco, officiating. Following a committal service, Bill will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: He will lie in state Friday where laughter and tears will be shared in the Great Room by family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to Cancer Care Services, 623 S. Henderson St., Fort Worth, Texas 76104-2920, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Giddings on Feb. 15, 1925, Bill was the son of Andrew Jackson and Louise York Rowe. He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1943. In 1945 he arrived at Texas Tech and joined the "Wranglers." Bill received a degree in industrial engineering in 1951. Bill married Dorothy "Dottie" Sloan in 1957 and together they moved to Chicago, Ill., where Bill ran a small Swedish subsidiary, Piston Products Inc. From Chicago, Bill moved his family to Jackson, Mich., representing Double Seal Ring Co. The family moved back to Fort Worth in 1971. Bill went to work for Safety Seal in Hurst and Wesco Engine Valve Co. in Marshall. In 1972 Bill married Isla Sue Faught. Sue had three children, Bill two and one together. Bill was an active member of the Paschal Panthers Alumni Association for many years. He also maintained a strong relationship with his alma mater, Texas Tech, its alumni association and the Wranglers, now ATO fraternity. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Sue, Bill is survived by his children, James and Lisa Ledbetter of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Eddie Rowe of Michigan, Janet Ledbetter, and Peggy and Michael Hux of Fort Worth, Lucy and Jeff Fisher of Weatherford, and Andrea and Jim Murdock of Frisco; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and their families.
