Robert W. "Bob" Price Sr. Obituary
Robert "Bob" W. Price Sr. passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his residence in Fort Worth. He was 94. Bob was a resident and local businessman of Lake Charles, La., for over 70 years. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in the Longhorn Auditorium, Trinity Terrace, 1600 Texas St., Fort Worth. Interment: Lake Charles, La. Bob was born in Guthrie, Okla. He attended Wentworth Military Academy in Mexico, Mo., Guthrie High School and graduated from Oklahoma University with a BS in business. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. Bob moved to Louisiana in 1940 with his family and began work in the construction industry. He was owner and president of the Brick and Tile Co., which manufactured brick for streets and buildings in southwest Louisiana. He later became chairman of the board of Dunham Price Group, LLC, where he worked for 50 years. He was also an owner and on the board of directors of R.E. Heidt Construction Co. He was a developer of several real estate ventures in southwest Louisiana, including the Lake Charles Hilton and Tower Oaks Apartments for the elderly. Bob served two terms on the Calcasieu Parish School Board and was a member of the Lake Charles Recreation Commission. He was a member of several civic organizations, including the Lake Charles Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and Kiwanis Club. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a ruling church elder and a session clerk of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Charles. He was 1983 King of the Krewe of Bartaria. He became a private pilot at an early age and loved to talk about airplanes. He had the ability to complete a crossword puzzle in minutes in ink, but always considered it a challenge. Nothing was more important to him than the welfare of his family. Making others smile was his special gift. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Boedecker Price. Survivors: He is survived by his children, Robert Price Jr. and wife, Susan, of Lake Charles, Patricia Ingold and her husband, Conrad, of River Ridge, La., and Judy Johnston and her husband, Stuart, of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
