Audie May Blackshear Obituary
Audie May Blackshear, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 2414 Hitson Lane, Fort Worth, Pastors Max Brennan and Wayne Blackshear officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Audie was born to the late Benton and Myrtle Mae White on Dec. 4, 1922, in Sherman where she grew up. She married Charlie Millard Blackshear in 1949, raised her family and worked as a department manager for Gibson's Discount Stores. Audie remained in Sherman until 1986 when she and Charlie moved to Fort Worth to be close to family. When Charlie passed away in 1996, she moved in with her son, Robert. Audie was a longtime member of Key Memorial Methodist Church in Sherman and St. Matthew's Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Audie enjoyed cooking, genealogy, sewing and crafting. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, Bailey. Audie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charlie; her brothers, Edward and James White; sister, Adie White; and grandson, Doyle. Survivors: Sons, Robert Blackshear and wife, Patricia, Benton Blackshear, William Blackshear and wife, Isla, and Glen Carl Blackshear and wife, Dorothy; daughter, Glenda Schmeltzer and husband, Paul; sister Jane Ann Gayden; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends.
