Judy Gartrell Obituary
Judy Gartrell, 70, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Service: 3:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Judy worked for Dr. R.E. Snyder as a surgical assistant starting in the early 1970s. She continued her career at St. Joseph's Hospital as a surgical nurse. Judy moved to Arkansas where she lived for 20 years. In 2002, she returned to Fort Worth where she was commissioned as a Tarrant County deputy sheriff and was an officer at the Tarrant County Jail. Judy was also involved in the Tarrant County Elections Office as an administrative assistant. She was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a game. Judy was a member of Chisholm Trail Baptist Church in Rhome, where she was a volunteer in childcare. She was a loving mother, Grandma Judy and Gigi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Holman C. and Lou West; and a grandson, Daniel M. Barnes. Survivors: Daughter, Dena Mason and husband, James; son, Rick Salmon and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Richelle, Chelsea, Sarah, Lindsey, Kiersten, Haley and Travis; great-grandchildren, Landon, Mackenzie, Isabelle, Emma and Preston; and other loving family.
