Jack Alvin Richards Obituary
Jack Alvin Richards passed away peacefully at home Thursday, March 27, 2014. Funeral: Was held Thursday, April 3, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment: Memory Gardens in Weatherford. Born Sept. 13, 1929, to Andrew and Emma Richards in Nolan, Jack was one of 10 children and was a twin. He grew up on a farm in the Sweetwater area. Jack was a war veteran, serving our country in the Air Force in Korea. In June 1954, Jack married Mary Reynolds. Together they raised five children in the Weatherford area. Jack, being a master carpenter, worked in construction industry mostly in Texas as well as in other states. He built his own home in Weatherford that all of his grandchildren refer to as "the house that Jack built." Jack was a man of faith and was a member of the Jehovah's Witness, just as his parents were. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Myrtle Denton, Juanita Smith, Nancy Gandee, Curtis Richards and Bill Richards. Survivors: Jack leaves behind his bride of over 60 years, Mary; his children, Mike Richards and his wife, Darcy, Becky Myers and her husband, Hugh, Alan Richards and his wife, Shae, Kimberly Smith and Carla Chandler and her husband, Robert; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Heap; and brothers, Dave Richards, Bob Richards and Gene Richards.
