Velma L. Belcher Obituary
Velma Belcher, a loving mother to her son, Richie, and a friend to all she met along the way, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, Monday, April 14, 2014, in the comforts of her residence. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2951 Evans Ave., the Rev. William T. Glynn officiating. Interment: In her family's section of Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation: Friends of Velma may visit her at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors as she slumbers in peaceful repose on her gold couch as she lies adorned in the grace and grandeur by which Velma was known, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. At the appointed time the "Spencer Coach" will carry Velma's earthly remains to Como First Missionary Baptist Church, 5228 Goodman Ave., for a time of reflection and remembrance, from 7 to 9 p.m. Her graceful smile and the vibrant demeanor of her character that she shared with all of her family, friends and acquaintances will be truly missed. Survivors: Left to carry on her legacy, her son, Richie Belcher; stepchildren, Teresa Jackson, Teresa Matthews, Wilbert Hayward, Curtis Hayward, Melvin Hayward and Walter Hayward Jr.; brother, Arvine "Dicky Boy" Elder (Mary); a host of other relatives; and many friends. Good night, Velma.
