Joe Preston Mann Obituary
Joe Preston Mann died peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014. It was Joe's desire for cremation. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Burial: Private in Laurel Land. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity in memory of Joe is suggested. Joe was born on May 6, 1933, in Fort Worth to George Henry and Agnes Houk Mann. He was a 1951 graduate of Paschal High School. Joe worked very hard in many early jobs before acquiring M&M Linen Service on Magnolia in the late '60s. He served the area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and numerous business and private homes. A successful and truly self-made businessman, Joe made friends wherever he went and he never forgot them. Joe was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Southside #1114 in Fort Worth. He was generous to numerous churches, children's homes, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Wounded Warriors Project. He loved playing golf with his friends at Colonial Country Club and all over the country. After selling his business in the early '90s, Joe moved to Corpus Christi and then to San Antonio, where he was part of a 10-year cancer treatment program at UT San Antonio. Joe returned to Fort Worth in 2012 where he lived until he succumbed to the cancer on last Saturday, April 19, 2014. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lisa Jo and Marla Gayle Mann; and brothers, James and George Mann. Survivors: Brother, Frank Mann and wife, Brenda, of California, a niece; and four nephews.
