Loretta Mae Podsednik Obituary
Loretta Mae Brungardt Podsednik, 86, entered the kingdom of heaven on Friday, May 2, 2014. She was surrounded by her children, family and friends during her last hours on earth. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 1201 S. Cherry Lane. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary and visitation: 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Chapel. Memorials: Goodrich Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 2500 Lipscomb, Fort Worth, Texas 76110. Loretta was born on June 26, 1927, to Edward Brungardt and Catherine Bellinder Brungardt near Gorham, Kan. In 1943, Loretta worked at Walker Air Force Base and met her husband, William A. Podsednik Sr. They married on Nov. 26, 1945, and had six children. Loretta wanted to be a mother. God blessed her with a heart overflowing with generosity, kindness, and love that caressed her family and everyone else she met with a genuine beauty. One of Loretta's passion was cooking. She was the cafeteria manager of White Settlement Hospital for 21 years. During that time she worked with the Ladies Auxiliary Group of St. Peter Catholic Church and was in charge of dinners held for church members. Starting at an early age, she made dresses for herself and her sisters. In later years she enjoyed sewing for both family and friends, everything from linens and dresses to wedding gowns. Another love of Loretta's was working in crafts; throughout the '80s for the church, continuing in the mid-'90s at JoAnn Duban Ceramics for a total of 12 years. Loretta kept busy living out her last years at Greenbriar Mansion crafting homemade greeting cards and leading Bible Study. Her hands weren't as nimble and steady as they had been at one time but the love that generated from her heart guided her fingers to craft a simple card of beauty ... just as God's hands had done when He made her on June 26, 1927. Preceding her in her passing was her husband, William A. Podsednik; her parents, Catherine and Edward Brungardt; and two brothers, Vitus and Leroy Brungardt. Survivors: Son, Bill and his wife, Brenda; daughters, Kathy Abbott and her husband, Jerry, Linda Elkins and her husband, Jack; sons, Gary and his wife, Judy, Tom and his wife, Debbie, Ronnie and his wife, Lisa; sisters, Teckla Baker and Marie Orth; brother, Hubert; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
