Martha Lavelle Williams McNeely Obituary
Martha Lavelle Williams McNeely, 85, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Service: 11 a.m. Friday at University Baptist Church, 2720 Wabash Ave., Fort Worth. Interment: Elliott Cemetery in Gunter, Grayson County. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. She was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Grayson County to Daisy McKinney and James Otis Williams. She was a graduate of Sherman High School. She attended Austin College and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton (now Texas Woman's University) with a degree in Spanish and English. Her career as a teacher of over 20 years brought her great rewards as she retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District. Her greatest fulfillment was her role as a wife and mother. She greatly enjoyed her Sunday school class at University Baptist Church and her role as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She married the love of her life, Francis McNeely Jr., on June 20, 1953. They were married almost 60 years. Francis preceded her in death in November 2012. Survivors: Daughter, Karen and husband, Mark Zecy, and their children, John Zecy and Andrea Zecy of Leawood, Kan; son, Norman E. McNeely and wife, Tracey, and their children, Kaitlyn McNeely and Joseph E. McNeely of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Susan and husband, Donald Cothern, and their children, William Cothern and Clark Cothern of Tyler; sister, Carol Chafin; niece, Shelly Zuercher; and nephew, Michael Chafin of Round Rock.
