Violet Hattie Perry "Vickie" Henderson Obituary
Violet "Vickie" Hattie Perry Henderson, 88, a retired homemaker, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Violet was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Warner, Okla. She moved with her family to Fort Worth when she was 9. After graduating from high school, she worked as an office assistant at Montgomery Ward until she became a homemaker in 1953. She was married to Nathaniel James Henderson for 62 years to his passing in 2009. Violet attended Pentecostal churches in the Fort Worth area and most recently Cornerstone Church in Azle. She was very active in her church in prayer, visitation of the sick, fundraising and "Helping Hands" for new mothers. Violet will be remembered by her children as "Mother" and her grandchildren as "Nena." She will be dearly missed, but fondly remembered by family and friends for her infectious laughter, witty humor and loving heart. Survivors: Son, Nathaniel J. Henderson Jr. of Bluff Dale; daughter, Saundra Stevenson and husband, Daniel W.; brother, Lucky W. Perry and wife, Zella, of Fort Worth; grandsons, Craig D. Stevenson and wife, Derinda, of Godley, Bryan P. Stevenson and wife, Regina, of Joplin, Mo., and Nathaniel J. Henderson III of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Michele Stevenson of Joplin, Mo., Kasey Steele and husband, Corey, of Fort Worth and Tiffany Poole and husband, Kevin, of Irving; and nine great-grandchildren.
