Ralph Ray Obituary
Ralph Darrell Ray, 89, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Mosser officiating. Friends are invited to stay afterwards for a reception. As were his wishes, he will be cremated. Burial of cremated remains will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Memorials: May be made to the organ fund at First United Methodist Church in Arlington, in lieu of flowers. Ralph was born July 29, 1924, in Italy, Texas, to Hubert Ray and Lillian Lanora Abbott Ray. He graduated from high school in 1942 and attended N.T.A.L. in Arlington for one year. He joined the United States Army Air Corps, where he served as a pilot, receiving his wings and commission in March 1945. He worked briefly for Lone Star Gas Co. In 1946, he joined the Fort Worth Star-Telegram national advertising department and later became national advertising manager and served in that capacity for many years. He was active in the Fort Worth Sales and Marketing Executives and the National Newspaper Advertising Executives Association. Ralph married Marilyn Newtson Andrew on April 15, 1986, in Arlington; she preceded in him death Dec. 20, 2008. After retirement, he was part owner of Westcliff Travel Services based in Fort Worth and later joined Moore Funeral Home in Arlington as an associate funeral director. Ralph loved life. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Marilyn. He loved his friends, his church and God. He was a huge fan of TCU football and had special memories from working at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He never met a stranger and got great joy in talking with anyone who would share a conversation. Survivors: Daughters, Lisa Ray of Fort Worth and Tami Moore and husband, Chris, of Fort Worth; grandchildren; Kyle Moore and Nicole Moore; stepdaughter, Nancy Henley and husband, David, of Burleson; stepsons, Jeff Andrews and wife, Amy, of Edmond, Okla., and Mike Andrews and wife, Gayle, of Haymarket, Va.; and step grandchildren, Patrick Andrews, Katie Andrews, Meghan Andrews, Stephen Andrews and Ryan Andrews and wife, Bethany.
