Eleonore A. Bigham Obituary
Eleonore Adele Bigham, 79, of Hurst passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Memorials: The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the of North Central Texas. Ellen was born June 29, 1935, to Franz and Frieda Dautermann and grew up in Stipshausen, Germany. She met Hansel Lee Bigham, an Air Force serviceman, when he was stationed in Germany and the couple married in 1957. Shortly after, they moved with their daughter, Ulla, and son, Richard, to the United States; sons Steven and Terry soon joined the family. As an Air Force family, they traveled the country, living in Richmond, Va.; La Junta, Colo.; Tucson, Ariz.; and Presque Isle, Maine, before settling in Hurst after Lee retired from the Air Force in 1970. Ellen was a homemaker when the kids were young but later worked part-time jobs. She enjoyed reading and dabbled in several collectibles, but really loved to cook for the family, especially during the holidays. Her later years were spent with her grandchildren, and she doted on them every chance she could. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; daughter, Ulla; and her brother, Hans Dautermann and his wife, Doris. Survivors: Brother, Eugen Dautermann and wife, Martha, of Hottenbach, Germany; son, Richard and wife, Ruby, of Lampasas; son, Steven and wife, Donna, of Bedford; son, Terry and wife, Sherrie, of Arlington; grandchildren, Cody Haines, Regina Muse, Lisa Butts, Heather Henry, Tanya Bigham, Stephanie Mozingo, Brittany Williamson, Steven Bigham Jr., Brooke Herring and Joshua Bigham; and six great-grandchildren.
