Sarah Pollard Obituary
Sarah Pollard, 83, of Alvarado passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at First United Methodist Church of Alvarado. Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado. Sarah was born to Hattie and Carl Laramore on Feb. 28, 1931, in Alvarado and raised there with her brothers, Carl Gene and Edwin. In 1950 she married Finis Pollard, and had two children. Sarah dedicated herself to her community through United Methodist Women, the Alvarado Garden Club, the Clio Club, Santa's Helpers and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alvarado for 50 years. She was an Avon Lady for 38 years and was in its President's Club 24 years in a row. A unique soul, Sarah had a flair for mischief and enjoyed many fun times with her four grandchildren who knew her as Meme. She loved to travel, even surviving a sinking ship off Canada in 1984. She and Finis completed their Alaskan cruise the following year. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Finis; and her parents and brothers. Survivors: Daughter, Jana and husband, Ken Henshaw, of Burleson; son, Stephen and wife, Nancy, of Alvarado; grandchildren, Emily and husband, Joe Pedigo, of Fort Worth, Stephanie of Fort Worth, Joseph and wife, Karen, of Tyler and Christina Henshaw of Burleson; and great-grandchildren, Samuel Pollard and Lauren Pedigo.
