John Carl and Debi Hicks Weaver Obituary
John Carl Weaver, 63, and his wife, Debi Hicks Weaver, 60, of Granbury passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, in Ranger as the result of a private plane crash. Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Interment: 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Acton Cemetery, 3500 Fall Creek Highway, Granbury. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ren's Rides for Autistic Equine Therapy, 1302 Pecan St., Buffalo Gap, Texas 79508, or SPCA of Texas, The Jan Rees Jones Animal Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, Texas 75215. John was born Aug 6, 1951, the son of Dale and Frances Weaver, in Corsicana. Debi was born Nov. 29, 1953, to Eldon and Rojean Hicks of Trent. John and Debi were married Jan. 6, 1979, in Arlington. They had lived in Arlington, Wichita Falls, Abilene and Granbury. John graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Austin and Texas Tech University in 1973 with a BSME and was a registered professional engineer. He most recently was a vice president of Broad Oak Energy II. John had a love of flying. He was an avid golfer and had recently returned from Scotland where he played The Old Course at St. Andrews. Debi attended school in Trent, where she was on the state basketball championship team in 1970 and was a cheerleader. Debi's first love was raising her children. She volunteered in numerous civic organizations and was recently active in the SPCA. She recently retired as an executive assistant at Rees-Jones Family Office. She loved to entertain family and friends. John and Debi enjoyed travel, their animals and living at Lake Granbury. They were loved by everyone and they linked together everyone they love. John and Debi's daughter, Courtney Anne Weaver, also was welcomed into heaven with them, through this plane crash. John and Debi were preceded in death by John's parents, Debi's father and Debi's brother, Stan Hicks. Survivors: They are survived by a son, Stephen Paul Schultz of Granbury. John is also survived by his sister, Elayne Ruthart of Arlington; uncle, Jack Bowden of Grand Junction, Colo.; and niece, Lindsey Ruthart of Arlington. Debi is also survived by her mother, Rojean Hicks of Abilene; sister-in-law, Rene Hicks of Buffalo Gap; nephews, Brad, Wes and Thomas Hicks and families; and numerous family members and friends.
