Billy Joe "Bubba" Large Obituary
Billy Joe "Bubba" Large, 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Foursquare Church in Knox City. Interment: Knox City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home in Lake Worth, with a second viewing 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Knox City. He was born July 28, 1943, in Knox City. He graduated from Knox City High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. He returned to Knox City where he worked for more than 30 years as a pumper and roustabout in the oilfield. After retirement, he and his devoted wife, Linda Kay, moved to Azle to be closer to their two boys. Billy Joe will be remembered by all for his love of old cars, collecting, karaoke and his sense of humor. He will be remembered by his family for his generous spirit and his deep devotion to his wife, sons and grandchildren -- not to mention the over-the-top Christmas decorations and Easter egg hunts. All who knew him loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli Dell Large and Bessie Mae Large. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28 Survivors: His wife of 46 years, Linda Kay James Large; his sons, Billy Wayne and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Lindsey and Kelsey, and Aaron Dell, and his wife, Kristen, and their children, Lucas and Riley; and brothers and sister, Glen Dale, Eddie Dean and Bessie Alene Webb.
