Inez Mickey Obituary
Inez Mickey, 95, loving wife, mom and grandmother, passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet. Memorials: Foster's Home for Children, 1779 N. Graham St., Stephenville, Texas 76401. Inez was born in Tolleson, Ariz., on Feb. 26, 1919. She lived in Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" in San Diego during World War II, where she met her husband of 51 years, L.C. Mickey. They were married in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1946. They lived in Colorado and Texas, where they were blessed with four daughters. Inez worked for Carter Blood Center for 11 years and retired to Granbury in 1984. She was a member of the Church of Christ, where she taught both children and women's Bible classes. She loved to travel, crochet and spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eunice Carnes; brothers, Wilfred, H.C. and Douglas Carnes; her husband, L.C. Mickey; daughter, Bobbie Thames; and sons-in-law, Dwayne Smith, Tim Thames and Larry Sanders. Survivors: Daughters, Kay Sanders, Oleva Smith and Donna Sanderson and husband, David; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
