1934 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
Martha Jean Lutz Braudaway Obituary
Martha Jean Lutz Braudaway, 80, beloved child of God, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, and, after enduring many struggles with her frail and failing body, is now more alive than she has ever been. Throughout her struggles, Jean demonstrated her strong faith in and commitment to the Lord and the power of prayer. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family of whom she was most proud. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Jean was born in Fort Worth at her parents' home on Feb. 2, 1934, to E. Ormond Lutz and Arzena Belle Snowden. The same doctor later delivered each of Jean's five children. Jean had many dear friends at Worth Baptist Church where she was a longtime member and where she was honored as Mother of the Year in 2001, and at Hallmark Baptist Church where she was a charter member. Jean loved music, gardening, long rides in the countryside, homemade ice cream, visiting with friends and family, and her home filled with love and laughter and something good on the stove. Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She encouraged many souls and was loved by everyone whose life was blessed to have been touched by hers. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. We look forward to his glorious return and the celebration of the Marriage Feast of the Lamb with her and all our friends, loved ones, and all who are called the Children of God. The family would like to express sincerest thanks to our many dear friends and to Dr. Charles Carlton, mom's physician for 30 years, and the caring support from Covenant Care Hospice. Jean was predeceased by Al Braudaway, her loving and devoted husband of over 51 years; her parents; and two sisters. Survivors: Jean is survived by her daughters, Michelene Ballard and husband, Steve, Donna Plunkett and husband, Burt; and sons, Gary Braudaway, Michael Braudaway and wife, Pam, and David Braudaway and wife, Debbie. She has nine grandchildren: Jason Ballard and wife, Kristen, Jeff Ballard and wife, Deasha, Ryan Plunkett, Cody Plunkett, Allison Plunkett, Courtney San Miguel and husband, George, Meredith Braudaway, Amanda Braudaway and Aric Braudaway; and nine great-grandchildren.
