Jim Baker passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Friday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth, 76109. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bible Studies Group at Arborlawn United Methodist Church. He was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Cheshire, Ohio, to Paul Baker and Iris Ramona Butcher Baker. He was the oldest of five children. Jim was raised in Syracuse, Ohio, and spent much of his childhood playing along the riverbanks of the Ohio River. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1958 and completed his undergraduate studies at Marietta College in 1962. At The University of Texas at Austin he received a master's degree in organic chemistry in 1965. During his early career, Jim worked as a research chemist in Houston, where he was responsible for several chemical process patents. Jim spent many years working in the oil field servicing industry. He worked for the Western Company from 1972 to 1980 in roles that took he and his family to locations outside of Fort Worth that included: Midland, Brighton, Colo., and Rock Springs, Wyo. In 1980, Jim founded Acid Petroleum Services that provided acidizing and fracturing services throughout North and East Texas. He also had a career in the water treatment service industry for many years and retired from ChemAqua in December 2010. Jim was a member of Arborlawn United Methodist Church, Southwest Kiwanis Club, Society of Petroleum Engineers, BOMA and numerous other industry and service organizations. Jim loved his God, his country and his family. He had a great appreciation for all things nature especially the birds he loved watching, photographing and feeding. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Survivors: Jim is survived by his adoring wife and the love of his life, Becky; his sons, Jeffrey and Andrew; daughter, Lisa; daughter-in-law, Susan; son-in-law, Grady; and seven grandchildren, Harriette, Justin, Austin, Megan, Travis, Gabe and Presley. His sisters, Lynne Brinker and Anne Baker of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews also survive him. Additionally he leaves behind his special friend, Luci, who was just one of the many beloved dogs he cherished throughout his life.
