1919 - 2012 | Obituary
Mary Jo Buckler, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Mary Jo was born June 1, 1919, in Nineveh to Arthur and Allie Boykin. She moved to Fort Worth as a child and graduated from North Side High School and then attended Texas Wesleyan College before marrying Dee A. Buckler Jr. in 1943. After his death in 1951, she raised her family and retired from the Fort Worth ISD. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and her church, University United Methodist Church, where she was honored as a 50-year member. Mary Jo was involved with the Retired Secretaries Association and did volunteer work in the community. She had been a resident at Horizon Bay Retirement Center for the past 4 1/2 years. She was the strength of her family and a true example of Proverbs 31:25-31. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dee A. Buckler Jr.; brother, Morris Boykin; and a sister, Kathryn Irwin. Survivors: Daughter, Cathy Buckler Lovette; son, Lindsay Buckler and wife, Becky; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, John D. Boykin and wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Hermilee Boykin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
