. She was born in Arkancity, Kan., in 1926 to Marion T. and Ida Rose Jones. She graduated from high school in Enid, Okla., then Sullins College in Virginia, followed by the University of Texas at Austin. During junior high and high school, she spent summers working at Terrell Laboratory and All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth under the supervision of Dr. May Owens and her uncle, Dr. T.C. Terrell. This began her lifelong career in medical laboratory science. Charlotte married Vic Montgomery, a rancher and member of the TCU national championship football teams of 1936 and 1937. They made their home in Ozona, where she continued working at the Ozona hospital. They had two children, Judd and Lea. She became a stay-at-home mom, but continued to work in emergency situations. Vic passed away in 1972 after a long battle with cancer. Wanting to return to work, she moved with her children to San Angelo, where she worked at Shannon Medical Center for almost 30 years. She also taught hematology to the senior medical technology students from Angelo State University. While Charlotte was known throughout the medical community as a leader in her chosen field, she will best be remembered for her quick wit, fierce determination, generosity of spirit and zest for life. She enjoyed family, friends and church. Her strength and keen sense of humor inspired us all. Her family thanks Stonegate Nursing Center of Fort Worth for their care and support. Survivors: Children, Lea Montgomery of Fort Worth and Judd Montgomery of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
