Melvin Doyle "Dizz" Dunn Obituary
Melvin Doyle "Dizz" Dunn, 85, of Burleson, "the king of karaoke" and a retired chemist with Bell Helicopter, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Saturday at The Sideline Club, 10016 N. Crowley Road, Crowley. He was born May 8, 1927, in Burleson to Melvin Newton and Opal Irene Dunn. He served his country twice, as a Merchant Marine during World War II and as an Army medic during the Korean War. After separation from the military, he went to work for Bell Helicopter where he worked for 29 years. He loved to dance and he once won a waltz contest with his daughter Sherri. He also loved singing karaoke and driving fast. A daughter, Nikki Renee Dunn Brooks, preceded him in death. Survivors: Daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Dunn of Alvarado, Sherri and Randy Charland of Blue Mound and Debbe and Larry Wiener of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Betty Dunn of Clovis, N.M., and Ricky and Mary Dunn of Forest Hill; granddaughters, Tera Martinez, Keare Blaylock and Trista Hooper; grandsons, Jarred Dunn and Tim Wiener; and 10 great-grandchildren.
