David Lyle Chapman Obituary
David Lyle Chapman, 78, beloved husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed away surrounded by family Monday, April 29, 2013. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Saturday under a shade tree in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. David was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Fort Worth. He was the youngest son of Herman and Irene Chapman and younger brother of John. An all-state football player at Amon Carter-Riverside High School, David graduated in 1953 and went on to Texas A&M before returning to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he again played football and met his beautiful wife of 58 years, Marjorie Clark. David joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 146 in 1956, becoming a master plumber and field supervisor. He was a private pilot, loved fishing, NASCAR racing, the Mavericks and was a regular at his local gym. He was a devoted father and grandfather who will live in the hearts of all who loved him forever. Survivors: Wife, Marjorie Chapman of Hurst; daughters, Sharon Chapman of Philadelphia and Cheryl Chapman and Josh Gilbert of New York; grandson, Henry August Gilbert of New York; and aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
