I feel like I lost my best friend. John took care of my family and I would not have made it through my husband's death without the love and care he gave and my kids. I did not know until now about John as live in Kansas now.

Our hearts are sadden and broken to here that my long time friend and doctor are gone. You not only saved my daughter when she was 6, but prolonged her dads life so we could have him longer. We will always love you! Dr John you were the BEST! Now you are watching over us all from heaven. Our prayers are with the family at this sad time.

We are so saddened of the lost of our long time physician. Dr Schmidt was an amazing man and an extraordinary doctor. He cared deeply about his patients and you felt welcomed and at home when in his office. There are no words to express our heartache, but I do know that God has a special angel in Heaven with him. We will forever be thankful to Dr Schmidt for his care, stories and guidance throughout the years. He will be missed.

What a great loss to community, patients and friends. Dr. Schmidt was more than my doctor. Granted, we met from my family's referral. However, the more I went to Dr. Schmidt, the more he just grew on me as more than a doctor. Being close in age, we had a lot we could relate to. I truly enjoyed visits with mim and his carefully picked staff.

His skills as a doctor will also be missed. Not all doctors had that 'family', caring feeling he generated. I have lost a doctor, but more importantly, I have lost a dear friend.

My prayers go out to the rest of his beloved family.

My heart goes out to all of John's family. I had the pleasure of working with him at Mansfield Com Hospital. Whitney was born approximately a month after my returning to CT. He was so happy to call the let me know of Whitney's birth. I worked with both Joni/John for some time. RIP Dr.J

I am very sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Schmidt. He was a great Doctor who really cared about people. I love visiting with him no matter what Dr. Schmidt made me feel better about any situation that I may have had. It's because of Dr. Schmidt that I am now 100 pounds less. Dr. Schmidt did a wonderful job submitting information to my insurance company to get the gastic sleeve. He truly was the best Doctor and I will truly miss him.

I was very saddened to hear the news. Dr Schmidt was one of those people you just assume will always be there. Although he had not been my doctor for years, I treasure the funny moments I had because of my visits with him. Sweet, sweet man and he tolerated me at times when I thought no doctor would. I do regret the questions I failed to ask him. I am sad for his family...he must have been so much fun around the house. My deepest sympathy goes out to each of them....I know he will always be very missed.

So many memories from so many visits!! Never did he repeat a story.... it was always "Did I tell you the time....?" . In his socks, mask or funny tie he was a joy to visit and the most compassionate and caring Doctor ever! He was an amazing individual who will be sorely missed by me, my family and all that ever met him. My heart goes out to Carol and Whitney and his family and coworkers. We will be lost for quite awhile without his light.

Joni & Whitney, there is no greater loss than loosing a loved one. Our thoughts & prayers are constantly coming your way and may the wonderful memories that you have in your hearts help you step by step each day to keep moving forward. I can't help but feel in my heart sadness for his wife & the children he left behind...the empty void the his office staff must be feeling and all his patients who so loved & respected him. I would have to agree with something I read that you now have your own Angel looking down & watching over you and try to remember, there is always a direct line to God as He will help you through these tough times, may it be walking beside you or carrying you when your load gets too heavy to carry. Sending many hugs & much, much love from someone who has been there many times & now wishing I could take away your pain & sorrow. Always, our Friendship & Love!

Such sad news to hear that Dr. Schmidt had passed! He was an amazing Doctor and actually cared about his patients! LOVED seeing him so comfortable in his practice and walking around without shoes. The only Dr I've ever been to that actually could carry on a conversation with you. You will be greatly missed Dr Schmidt, Rest in Paradise. Prayers are with the family, friends, and staff at his office.

July 3, 2013

It was a pleasure to work with John aka Todd at KAYC in Beaumont. If there was some fun in the building, he was either the instigator or a willing participant. For Carol, about ten years ago I was passing through Midlothian when driving from Fort Worth back to Beaumont. I stopped by his office and we had a typically fun filled conversation as we got caught up. I was saddened to learn of John's passing from his best friend, Randy, who still lives in Beaumont. Believe me, he made a favorable mark on many people. Please accept my condolences.

July 3, 2013

Doc I'm so sad that you are no longer here with us. I will never have another Dr. That will come in and see me in his sock. I trusted you with all my heart. Carol I'm so sorry for your loss. The office will never be the same at all the town either.

Good times I remember with you,John. Cold mornings on soccer field watching jason play soccer..warm coffee..sun am with your beloved newspaper..Trips to St Thomas, Jamaica. Getting rained " out". You sulking but then realizing you were in paradise! Trips to grand cayman..scooters in rain..Telling you about my being expectant with your first & only child.. Then our months of planning for her arrival..your face when Whitney finally arrived! Your smile every time she said "daddy"! You were so proud of your " shorty" who became a 6 foot tall "intelligent yet super model like " young woman.. I love Carol and am so pleased that your last 12 years you had her with you. Life takes funny twists and turns but we hopefully all end up with the person we love. RIP JOHN

John was such an amazing man. He was so much more than a doctor - he was a brother to Mike and I. He was such a special member of our family. He was full of compassion, lived life to the fullest, and loved with all of his heart. He was truly one of the few good men. Whitney and Carol he loved you all so much. You both made his light shine. I will never forget every morning when he brought Whitney and her homemade grill cheese sandwich to day care and then the day that he had to tell you Mike was not really a plumber. Precious Memories. Whitney don't ever forget how much he loved you and he was so very proud of you. One of the last visits Mike and John had he was telling Mike how proud he was that you were considering becoming a nurse and before they were through you were already a doctor to both of them. We will always cherish all of the great times we shared. This is a great loss to all of the people who knew him but what a blessing for heaven.Main Street will never be the same. There will never be anyone that can even come close to fillig his shoes(or sock feet we should say). He leaves a legacy He will live on in our hearts forever. We love you all.

John was family to us. How else can you describe the man who helped raise our kids, who comforted and healed us all, who never made us feel like we were wasting his time with our worries and ailments? He was TRULY a doctor -- not just an MD making money via a bunch of practice management and insurance manuals. He genuinely wanted to help people, and he did that beyond all measure. We will miss him, and we pray God's comfort on Carol, Whitney, and his entire family.
