Stuart Courtenay Walker Obituary
Eight days after his 54th birthday, on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, Stuart Courtenay Walker left this world to receive his healing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a 30-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Benbrook, 1015 McKinley. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. His family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: North Central Texas National MS Society, 4086 Sandshell Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76137. Born July 26, 1959, to Ralph and Coralee Walker, Stuart grew up on the west side of Fort Worth, graduating from Arlington Heights High School. He began his college education at the Georgia Institute of Technology and ultimately completed his education with a bachelor of business administration degree at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1985. He was employed at Texas Steel Co. for several years. After receiving his college degree he was hired by General Dynamics, ultimately leaving in 1988 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. Stuart's favorite pastime included military history, especially planes. Upon his disability, Stuart's new passion became conservative politics. He ran for the Fort Worth City Council in 1981 and was able to get 25 percent of the vote the first time he ran. He was always watching conservative television and keeping abreast of all political topics. He was political before being political was "cool." He will forever be remembered for his "warped" and unique sense of humor by those who knew him best. Stuart was preceded in death by his father, Ralph McBee Walker Jr.; mother, Coralee Walker; and sister-in-law, Ruth Crawford. Survivors: Wife of 33 years, Sylvia Martin Walker; brother, Ralph "Bo" Walker and wife, Renee; sisters, Libby Anderson and husband, Roy, and Becky Young and husband, Cameron; mother-in-law, Rita Martin; sisters-in-law, Sharon Holt and husband, Rickey, Rita Dean and Toni Moreno and husband, Steve; brother-in-law, David Crawford; multiple nieces and nephews; and three great-nephews.
