Joyce June Tennison Andrews Obituary
Joyce June Tennison Andrews, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, in Albuquerque, N.M., after courageously battling cancer. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel, with the Rev. Charles D. Arsenault of Springfield, Mo., officiating. Internment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Joyce was born April 26, 1931, in Fort Worth to Loid and Lillie Tennison. On Dec. 31, 1947, in Fort Worth, she married the love of her life, Howard Andrews. They were married for over 65 years. Joyce's Christian faith was the mainstay and hallmark of her life. Joyce was a wonderful homemaker and devoted wife and mother, nana, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a loving and supportive friend. She was a committed church, PTA and community volunteer. She always made family and friends feel welcome in her home and her church. She had a kind and giving heart, always looked for the best in people, and created beauty in the lives of others through her many talents and creative abilities. Joyce made everyone feel very special and loved, as evidenced by her lovely smile and sparkling eyes. After Howard's retirement from Southwestern Bell, they invested in a card, gift and floral shop in Houston. Joyce enjoyed operating their business tremendously. Their subsequent golden years were spent traveling throughout the United States in their RVs and doting on their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They very much enjoyed their retirement home overlooking the inspiring Sacramento Mountains in beautiful Alto, N.M., near Ruidoso. Joyce is now in paradise with her heavenly Father. When we appreciate God's beauty, we are reminded in like manner of the way Joyce made our lives beautiful. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Loid; brother-in-law, Earl Dean; sisters-in-law, Juanita and Leora; brother, William; and many dear friends. Survivors: Husband, Howard Andrews; son, Wayne Andrews and wife, Judy, of Silverthorne, Colo.; daughter, Michele Rainwater and husband, Tim, of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Sarah Andrews-Hughbanks and husband, Travis, Scott Andrews, Claire Rainwater and Garrison Rainwater; great-grandchildren, Bobby and Gabriel Andrews and Olive Hughbanks; brother, Loid Tennison of Azle; sister-in-law, Jewel Tennison of Azle; and nieces, Nancy Buck, Loydean Chambers and Veralyn Bridges of the Fort Worth area.
