Frances Marie Cogburn Obituary
Frances Marie Cogburn departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans, dav.org, or , diabetes.org. Frances Marie Cogburn was born July 31, 1942, to her loving parents, Eugene Francis Bendix and MaryAnn Bendix. Her father was an officer in the United States Air Force. He served in World War II and in Korea. While serving in World War II, the plane that Eugene flew was named after his daughter, "The Frances Marie." While stationed in Amarillo with her parents, Frances met the love of her life, Bennie Clarence Cogburn. Bennie and his family are from Eastland. The Eastland-Cisco-Ranger-Abilene area is where many Cogburns settled after coming to America. The Cogburn family is originally from the Cockburn family of Scotland. Bennie's family belonged to the Cockburn family House of Langton and many of his ancestors were barons in this region of Scotland. The Cogburns still have confirmed family in Scotland. Bennie and Frances married Oct. 10, 1962. France was a very loving, devoted and faithful military wife. Her husband was career Navy, serving two tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. She lost her husband to cancer July 8, 1979, just eight days before his 40th birthday. Frances remained a loving, devoted and faithful wife even after Bennie's passing. There was no one who could take his place in her heart. Bennie was truly the love of her life. Survivors: Son, Albert Ray Cogburn of Saginaw; daughter, Angela Marie Cogburn Speer of Houston; grandchildren, Leonard Ray Speer, Alexis Marie Speer and Joeanne Louise Speer; brother, Charles John Bendix of Wisconsin; and sister, MaryAnn Bendix of Arizona.
